The State of Serverless Report provides data and relevant information on the current state of serverless technology, based on data collected from over 20,000 Datadog customers using the technology in major clouds such as AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. Here are the key takeaways from the report

  1. Increased adoption of serverless: The report highlights that the use of serverless technology on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure has increased significantly over the past year. AWS has seen a 3% increase, while Google Cloud and Azure have seen growth rates of 7% and 6% respectively. This indicates that a high percentage of customers on these clouds are using serverless solutions.
  2. Diversification of serverless offerings: In addition to traditional Function as a Service (FaaS), major cloud providers are expanding their serverless toolsets to meet customer needs. This includes serverless container services and fully managed container-based applications. Emerging providers such as Vercel and Cloudflare also offer serverless computing services tightly integrated with their core offerings.
  3. Adoption of serverless containers: A key highlight of the report is the growing adoption of serverless containers. Google Cloud leads in this area, with 66% of serverless organisations using container-based workloads. AWS and Azure follow at 26% and 22% respectively. The…
